Upper Dublin Township Police responded to a retail theft in progress, and you’ll never guess where it occurred.

On Oct. 10, around 4:37 p.m., the police responded to Lululemon Athletica located at 1104 Market St. in Dresher in Upper Dublin Township for a report of a theft and arrived just as suspects were fleeing across the parking lot “carrying a large amount of Lululemon merchandise,” said reports. Police said that the suspects crossed over Dryden Road, fleeing from Lululemon and entered the back lot of BET Investments at 200 Dryden Road.

Police said that the people ran into the lot, to a black Jeep Grand Cherokee, entered it, and began to back up “through the lot across multiple parking spots.” Police pulled up to the car, activating overhead emergency lights and siren in a marked Upper Dublin police car, according to reports, as one suspect entered the rear of the Jeep and the other the front, passenger’s side.

Reports stated that the two then exited the vehicle, fleeing on foot, up Dryden Road toward Welsh Road, through the shopping center. Police said that several parking spots in front of Lululemon were open at the time of the incident. Police detained the driver of the Jeep, identified as Maurice Laron Warring. The merchandise was sitting outside of the Jeep, on the ground, reports said. After returning the property to the retail store, police said they confirmed that the property was that of Lululemon and valued the total of the goods at $3,542.25.

Multiple police agencies responded to seek the two that fled on foot, and later located and detained Kathleen Davis, 23, of the 2300 block of West Diamond Street, in Philadelphia, along with a male juvenile, in the shopping area, said reports. Davis told police her name was Kathleen Jones, with a date of birth of Jan. 15, 2005, after she was told she was under official police investigation. Davis’ date of birth, however, is Jan. 30, 2001 according to documents. Davis had a warrant for her arrest out of Philadelphia.

Davis and the juvenile were identified by Lululemon employees, police said, as “actors in this theft.” The manager confirmed both subjects selected store merchandise and exited the store past points of sale without paying for it, reports stated. The same suspects were identified by UDPD officers as the two fleeing the scene, attempting to enter the Jeep, police said.

Davis is to face four felony charges, including retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy to receive stolen property, as well as two misdemeanor charges of evading arrest or detention on foot and false identification to a law enforcement officer.

Davis is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Douglas H. Lavenberg on Oct. 25 at 10:30 a.m. She was released on a bond signature on Oct. 11.

Warring, the driver of the Jeep, is facing two felony charges of conspiracy to commit retail theft and conspiracy to receive stolen property. He was also released on a signature bail. He is due before Lavenberg’s court on Nov. 1 at 12:30 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.

Both Davis and Warring had other active criminal complains open in Philadelphia, Blair, and Schuylkill counties.
