Science after hours, Fright at Night, Friday, October 25th
Fright @ Night returns to the Franklin Institute by popular demand. This Halloween-inspired evening event for adults 21+ includes evening access to all core exhibits and galleries, roof deck access, and food and bar stations around the museum. Plus, there will be a disco in the planetarium and much, much more.
As always, costumes are encouraged, but full-face coverings and real or fake weapons are prohibited.
Halloween Hikes & Hayrides, Friday, October 25 & Saturday, October 26th
It’s spooky season and Halloween Hikes & Hayrides is back along the Schuylkill. Craft magical creations with the Witches of the Woods; take a hayride through the Scarecrow Gallery, roast marshmallows for s’mores, chat with nocturnal animal friends on an evening hike, relax in the Schuylkill Center’s first ever Beer Garden, and so much more. Tickets are required.
Haunted Circus, Friday, October 25 & Saturday, October 26th
Step right up, folks! The Family Haunted Circus is rolling into town this weekend with three shows for all ages. First, get ready for some spooky fun at the Kids Haunted Circus on Friday, Oct 25, at 7:00pm (rated G for giggles!).
On Saturday, a PG-13 spectacle will showcase the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts’ Performance Prep and Youth Troupe, and even some of the adult students. It’s the perfect blend of thrills and chills, ideal for youth & adults who want to keep things family-friendly without causing nightmares.
Then, at 8pm, the Adult Haunted Circus is not for the faint of heart or the prudish of mind, but perfect for those who like their fun served with a side of fright and a dash of risqué. Tickets are $15 for children and $20 for adults.
Philly Vegan Restaurant Week, October 25th through November 3rd
Philly Vegan Restaurant Week’s mission is to spotlight the culinary creativity at vegan and omni restaurants, to increase access to vegan food, reduce the consumption of animals, and positively impact the planet by supporting and encouraging the Vegan restaurant community.
For one week, restaurants around Philly will offer special menu items or a prix fixe vegan menu consisting of dishes that best represent that establishment. More than a dozen restaurants are currently participating.
CultureFest Día de los Muertos, Saturday, October 26th
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a lively holiday blending of Indigenous Mexican beliefs and traditions with the Catholic celebrations of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. This full-day festival at Penn Museum offers fun for the whole family, including an arts activity, altar competition, artisan market, dance and music performances, and an enormous traditional ofrenda (altar) installation by the Mexican Cultural Center by artists José Martín Anguiano Hermosillo and Maria Felix.
East Passyunk Fall Fest, Saturday, October 26th
East Passyunk invites you some spooktacular fun! Bring the whole family out for Fall Fest on October 26th from 11am to 4pm for pedestrian-only fun on East Passyunk Ave between Morris and Dickinson Streets and specials up and down the entire Avenue. There will be activities for kids and adults alike, including 70+ craft and arts vendors, costume contests paired with themes from your favorite businesses on the Avenue, pumpkin carving, arts and crafts, live music, trick or treating and food and drink specials up and down the Avenue, plus so much more.
