Both the members of Pioneer Fire Company No. 1 and the Independent Fire Company, who’ve tactically joined forces since November 2023 to form the Jenkintown Fire Department, welcome the public, in the peak of Fire Prevention Week (Sunday, Oct. 6 to Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024), to its a local Fire Prevention Night.
Slated for Thursday, Oct. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m., the event will be held at both stations, 609 and 700 Greenwood Ave., in Jenkintown. The event will provide an opportunity to meet your local firefighting teams, learn about fire trucks and equipment of the two departments, and of course, pick up some tips on fire safety.
The opportunity is an ideal time to discuss with the entire family your plans for a fire escape, how fire extinguishers or other preventative tools work, or what practices are smart ways to prevent them altogether.
For some helpful information to get you started, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), which has been tackling just such issues for over 125 years now. The self-funded nonprofit has been on a mission to “help save lives and reduce loss with information, knowledge, and passion.”
For more information or if you have any questions, email Jenkintown Fire Department Chief Ken Lynch at [email protected] or call 267-228-6968. The event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome to attend.
