One Willow Grove teen lost her life over the weekend, with a deadline crash around 1:34 a.m. early Sunday morning, according to Delaware State Police (DSP).
DSP are currently investigating the two-vehicle accident that occurred in Seaford, Delaware, in which both a man and a woman died. The rear right passenger of a 2016 Nissan Rogue involved in the accident, hailed from Willow Grove and was a first-year student at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Just after 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 6, the Rogue was traveling southbound on Sussex Highway in the left lane, south of Cannon Road, police said. At the same time, a 2005 Honda Pilot was traveling northbound, also in the left southbound lane on Sussex Highway, into the Rogue’s path of travel, said reports.
The Rogue’s front passenger, a man 22, from Fayetteville, N.C., and the Willow Grove woman were both pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Names have not been released by DSP, as family and relatives were still being notified.
Both of the Rouge’s other passengers, a 22-year-old man from Washington, D.C. and a left rear passenger, a woman from Bethesda, Maryland, were taken to an area hospital for “critical injuries,” according to police.
The Pilot’s driver, a 24-year-old man from Georgetown, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital for “serious injuries,” said the DSP report. The Pilot’s passenger, a 40-year-old man from Georgetown, Delaware, was also taken to the hospital for “critical injuries.”
During the incident, the Sussex Highway was closed for about three hours as the scene was investigated and cleared, police said. The DSP Troop 8 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the matter. Troopers ask that any witnesses to the crash contact Master Corporal K. Argo by calling 302-703-3264. Information can also be sent to the DSP via the private Facebook message account here or by calling the Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-847-3333.
