If you are looking for a fun event, there’s no need to leave your own community. There is plenty happening in and around the Willow Grove area all week long. From giving back to the community, to celebrating alongside its residents, there is so much going on right in your own backyard. The Pre-Dental Club will host a Soap Carving event on Monday, Oct. 7 from noon to 1 p.m. The event, geared to assist those that wish to practice manual dexterity, will be held in the Lares Banquet Room, located at 1600 Woodland Road, in Abington. Pizza is provided to those that attend. There is no charge for the event. Those interested can register online here.
On Monday, Oct. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology will host a Designer Bag Bingo will be held at Upper Moreland High School, 2900 Terwood Road, in Willow Grove. Tickets are available for $30 ahead of time or $35 at the door. Registration is requested and can be done at eastern-designer-bag-bingo.cheddarup.com.
The Drake Tavern in Jenkintown will play host to “Keep the Change” on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. The tavern, located at 304 York Road, Jenkintown. The band is slated to play through 10 p.m. For more on the offerings at The Drake, visit https://draketavern.com/.
On Thursday, Oct. 10, from 4 to 6 p.m., the Abington Free Library will host a Halloween Costume Swap in the Community Room. The evening offers an opportunity to make the holiday more affordable. Guests are asked to bring a gently used and complete costume to donate, and then you are permitted to find one new-to-you. Costumes for children, teens, adults, and even pets are welcome. Even if you don’t need a costume, donations are welcome. Any remaining costumes will be at the Children’s Desk until Sunday, Oct. 20. No registration is required.
FarmerJawn welcomes guests each Friday in the fall for Volunteer Days from 8 to 11 a.m. at its Elkins Park location. From planting new fall harvest seeds, to simply enjoying the outdoors, volunteers can have a chance to connect with other, like-minded individuals with a passion for farming.
