If the changing leaves and crisper mornings haven’t gotten you into the fall spirit, Abington Township hopes to help. The Township’s Fall Festival is slated for Saturday, Oct. 5 at Crestmont Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“This fun-filled day is family-friendly, and there will be multiple free activities for children of all ages,” said the event’s website.

The busy day, which has selected a rain date of Oct. 20, will be hosted at Crestmont Park, located at 2595 Rubicam Ave., in Willow Grove, has a robust schedule, including a Trunk or Treat event, a Touch-a-Truck gathering, bounce houses, food trucks, and even live music and a fall craft.

Scarecrow Crafts will be hosted from 11 a.m. to noon, and the finished scarecrows will later be displayed throughout the township. DJ music will also begin at that time.

At noon, a live band, MAFIA (Middle-Aged Funk in Abington) will keep the party going with fun and festive tunes. At 1 p.m., guests can participate in the Pumpkin Decorating event, enjoying resumed DJ music.

Those that plan to attend should bring along your own bag or container to collect treats. A very limited number of bags will be available to decorate as a craft. The Trick-or-Treat bag decorating begins at the event’s start, 11 a.m.

Parking will be available for those attending at the park, in the lower and middle parking lots on Old Welsh Road. Additional spaces will be open at the Willow Grove Park Mall. Abington Police Department will be on-site to assist visitors in crossing the street.

There is no cost for admission to the festival. Any additional sales at the event, such as food truck offerings, will have costs associated. However, the township-sponsored crafts, band, bounce houses, and music are provided for free.
