An accident on the interstate was the result of a medical incident, state police said.

On Thursday, Nov. 14, around 4:05 p.m., police were called to an accident report on Interstate 276. According to the Pennsylvania State Police via a public information release report, a female driver, age 32, was wearing a lap and shoulder seatbelt driving along Interstate 276 in Upper Dublin Township, near mile marker 341.7 when she “encountered a medical condition and became dizzy.”

Police said that the driver then struck both barriers, coming to a position of uncontrolled rest against the center barrier between the east and west lanes. The car, a 2011 Suzuki Kizashi, sustained disabling damage to the driver’s side front end and the car’s suspension. All airbags deployed in the crash, police said.

According to police reports, the driver was not injured in the incident and refused medical treatment when police offered it. Police said that the driver’s family arrived on scene to take her home. The barrier sustained scratch damages from the impact. A tow truck from Rob’s Automotive and Collision was required to remove the vehicle.

The driver was not charged in the incident. Pennsylvania State Police were assisted at the scene by Rob’s Towing, as well as the Pennsylvania Turnpike staff.
