A house fire at a two-story single-family home on the 2700 block of Phipps Avenue near Lukens Avenue was brought under control quickly by multiple fire agencies Wednesday morning in Abington Township.
Upon arrival around 10:40 a.m., fire crews found heavy smoke conditions on the second floor of the home. The fire was brought under control by 11:10 a.m., with holes being cut in the roof and windows broken out to ventilate the home and hotspots being managed by firefighters.
Phipps Avenue/Kanes Road was closed at Fitzwatertown Road.
Initial Montgomery County emergency dispatch traffic reported that the home had a "hoarding condition" in the basement and the first floor had "soft floors."
There were no reported injuries.
Responding units included Merion Fire Co., Abington Fire Co., McKinley Fire Co., Weldon Fire Co., Upper Moreland Township Fire Co., Edge Hill Fire Co., Rosyln Fire Police, Fort Washington Fire Co., Jenkintown Fire Co., and Wyndmoor Hose Co.
EMS responders included three ambulances from Second Alarmers Rescue Squad.
