The Jenkintown Borough Council approved its 2025 budget at its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 11, announcing that there will be no increase in tax millage.
“Through thoughtful planning and the practice of employing sound principles throughout the budgeting process, we have been able to plan to continue the level of service provided to taxpayers without an increase in the tax millage rate in any fund in 2025,” said Borough Manager George Locke. “…other measures taken included consolidation of services, automation/modernization of processes, professional studies to determined proper staff levels, equipment upgrades and upkeep of public properties and utilities.”
The 2025 budget also will include grant funding for upgrades to Borough Hall, benefit and wage improvements, IT technology, Police Department vehicle replacement, and more.
It was announced that staffing of the Police Department will be reduced by two positions. This determination was made after two separate independent studies were completed.

The sanitary sewer rate fee will be increased in 2025 by $47.70. The average cost for homeowners will go from approximately $198 to $245.70. The Borough announced this is due to “the rising expense of treatment, cost of maintenance to the treatment plant, and to behind to prepare for the impending construction of the convenance system.”
