Jenkintown school board hosts brief reorganizational meeting to name leadership, committee chairs

The Jenkintown School Board convened on Dec. 2 for its reorganizational meeting where it made multiple appointments.

The committee elected Lisa Smith as its “temporary president.” All were in favor, and none were opposed.

The committee also approved Megan O’Brien as school board president and Carolyn Riley as school board vice president.

“Thank you once again for trusting me with the esteemed role of board president,” O’Brien said.

The board offered a congratulations and wished them good luck.

The board also approved the designation of board delegates:

  • Jenkintown Borough Council: Bridget Reilly Beauchamp
  • Legislative Council/MCIU: Lisa Smith
  • Eastern Center for Arts and Technology: Carolyn Riley
  • Jenkintown Home and School: Nathan Bridge
  • Jenkintown Education Foundation: Nancy Campbell
  • Wellness Committee: Nina Russakoff
  • Safety Committee: Nina Russakoff
  • Nominations Committee: Patrick Wicks

The board also approved its meeting schedule for 2025. The board made a slight change and will only meet once in January 2025, when it was originally planned to meet twice. There will be two meetings in February, with one on Feb. 10 and Feb. 24, to make up for additional opportunities for public comment.
