A fire in a boiler room has caused first responders to be dispatched in Abington Township on Saturday afternoon.
According to the county’s dispatch, calls came in around 12:38 p.m. for the report of a building fire at The Fairway and Rydal Road within the township. The building is called the Rydal Park retirement community, “Rydal Park and Waters,” causing concerned for space’s older adult occupants.
The fire, according to those at the scene was rather small and contained within the boiler room of the building. The building was evacuated for safety. Smoke was visible on the ground floor.
Responding to the scene were Abington Township Fire Department, Barren Hill Fire Company, as well as multiple units from the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad, among other first responders.
At this time, information on the status of the fire and any possible injuries has not yet been made available. More information will be posted as it is released.
